When I first set up this website I said Joni Mitchell was my favourite singer.  Things have changed a little.  My favourite band now has to be U2.  But, I can’t listen to U2 all the time.  So, I have a few other bands I like to listen to, including Echobelly, Sleeper and Garbage.

You might be surprised to know that Echobelly are still together, despite having been dropped by Sony. They are now on an independent label, Fry Up, and will be recording a new album in March to April 2003.

I think that the title of Garbage’s latest album, “Beautiful” says it all.  Shirley Manson’s voice has developed a lot, and the instrumentals are toned down to let it shine through.

Still, I needed some more bands to listen to.  Then an email friend of mine, in Yugoslavia, sent me a CD of bands she liked.  The band that really stood out on this was Nightwish, a Finnish Symphonic Metal outfit.  Enough chat from me, their website says it all.

Church Music

It may surprise you to learn, given my listening tastes, that I am in the Music Group at St Columba’s C of E Church.  There are currently four singers in the Music Group, a pianist, keyboard player and sound man.  Our organist recently retired, we have had various stand-in organists for a while.
